Measurement and unit conversion
Calculators use the dimensions entered by the visitor and standard length, area and volume conversions between metric and imperial units. Where a calculator changes unit systems, values are converted for planning convenience; re-check the original measurement before purchasing material.
Allowances and product yields
Waste allowances are planning assumptions, not supplier specifications. Board, panel, block and bag counts are rounded up because materials are normally bought as whole units. Coverage, density and bag yields vary by product, so the supplier label remains the final source.
Limits of the tools
BuildCalculators.org does not design structures, determine property boundaries, assess soil, calculate loads, replace permits or provide professional engineering advice. The tools are intended to help visitors prepare a sensible first material list.
If a calculation affects safety, structure, drainage, electrical work, gas, or a regulated boundary, obtain local professional advice before starting.
